Would give 0 star if possible.
First, I was approached by a sales guy which talked me and my partner into jet skiing. We were charged around 1300 peso for 30 minutes.
Fast forward a few hours and we're given a laminated page containing the details of where we can jet ski. Also on the back there is a statement that mentions a minimum $100 charge for capsizing the jet ski.
We get out onto the waves and just as we're building up speed.... We capsize. We had literally been on the jet ski for about 1 minute, going by my go pro footage. Anyway, we failed to flip it back over and it took roughly around 1-2 minutes for the guys to bring us back to shore.
Next thing, we're taken to the counter on the beach and were told that we now owe $300 since the jet ski now had to be drained which would render it out of service.
From my 1 minute jet skiing experience it is still unknown how it capsized, we were steady in the water and the next moment we were thrown off. And no I did not turn and make any sharp movements.
After voicing my frustration with the manager he agreed a $200 fine (4000 mxn peso)
My frustration here is the vague term that was mentioned on the laminated page that stated, minimum $100 charge in the event of capsizing the jet ski. By the time we got back to shore we owed 3x the amount of the rental.
My recommendation: if you've never been on a jet ski, and don't want to run the risk of capsizing and getting charged an unknown amount with the minimum being $100, then I'd stay away and do some of the other activities they offer.
For those that are experienced then obviously this shouldn't worry you.
