The room/ac was great! The cleaning staff, front desk, servers, bar staff and entertainment all were great. We felt very safe. We were always able to find a lounge chair at the beach. The sea weed was very bad but that is not the hotel's fault. There are times the chairs at the pool get full - sometimes people claim them with a towel and don't show up for 4 hours (we did witness this first hand). Friday and Saturday seemed to have more locals vs. travelers and the pool was MUCH busier and drinks were hard to get at this time with no wait staff to offer drinks.
The buffet food was par. I realize they have to cater to many different people from all over but I thought there would be more authentic food more often, but it was all tasty.
We were able to get one reservation for the "Sit down" restaurant and really enjoyed it. I do not like that you have to be in line at 9:30am to get a reservation and there is limited space (understandable). There were tables that people didn't show up for their reservation. I would have liked to see a "wait list" that if they didn't show up for their table for 20 min then someone else could have their table.
The taxi's to town were great.
There was a hotel employee that gave us a great reference for tacos at El Nero and they were fantastic!

The staff here are excellent (particularly the restaurant and bar staff), do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable. The food was really good, we only used the buffet so I can't really comment on the other restaurants but there was always a good variety on offer. 2 good pools and plenty of activities on the day, the entertainment staff did a great job of trying to involve everybody. Room was cleaned regularly and soft drinks and water were supplied daily. Only down side was occasionally there was limited hot water for a shower but this was only a minor concern for us. A thoroughly enjoyable stay.

We had an excellent week. We went in the off season. Rained 2 hours second day and short burst day 3. This is a budget resort. Mostly Spanish speakers from Mexico here. We enjoyed how small and quaint it was. Enjoyed that it wasn't crazy crowded. Beach was beautiful. Pool was nice. Now the buffet isn't huge like the bigger hotels but we enjoyed the selections. Problem with hot water on day 4 going into day 5 but that was our last day. Just made the best of it. Staff was great. Very accommodating especially the hostesses at the buffet. I would highly recommend this resort if you're a budget traveler for sure. Downtown Playa del Carmen is a 10 dollar taxi ride away and a wonderful little walk with restaurants and shops. Had a great time!

We had an excellent stay at Allegro Playacar. The main reason we had such a lovely stay was the staff.

Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Luis (Luigi/Sexy Chocolate) put on a great show every night and was so passionate and energetic. Miguel was an excellent bartender in the First Club and always had great drink suggestions. Then there's my superstar bartender, Nestor, who was always so happy to see me and pour me a drink. I loved the staff more than any other part of the resort and they all deserve a raise.

We had an excellent stay. The bungalow style hotel has a perfect location close to Playa del Carmen and a very nice piece of beach - without sea weed!!! Rene and his awesome animation team had us well entertained at all times. In general very good service and friendly staff. Totally recommendable. We will be back????????♥️????????

Staying here currently, finally have hot water, was out throughout the resort for the first 5 days of my stay so cold showers every day which was miserable. The activity pool was so dirty you couldn’t see the bottom for the first several days and nobody was using the pool because if it. Also constant door lock problems between the 4 rooms that we currently have rented. The plus: ac in the room is on point, super cold!! The staff are are all excellent and have good energy. The shows appear to be hired from the outside not your typical entertainment staff doing things and have been pretty good. Food is decent. We have 8 family members in our group and had to argue to get a specialty restaurant that would accommodate us and then could only use it once in our week stay. Supposed to be a family friendly resort and I know for a fact that we’re not the only large family here currently. Some folks save for years to go on a family vacation for goodness sakes have the place in good working order!! Cold showers and dirty pools are not ok…

Our first trip in three years and Rafael and Angel made sure it was the best it could be! Everyday Rafael made us the most delicious drinks and made sure we were well hydrated with a genuine smile on his face (he wears a mask but you can see it in his eyes!). We will miss seeing him and surely will be coming back for the lovely staff :)
