The rooms were spotless every day and came with several amenities, including vodka, whiskey, and beer faucets. I like how they wrapped the towels into animals. It was quite a unique touch. The private room for the toilet was neat too, though a little small, and I felt comfortable doing my business there. However, I found the placing of the beds with the bathroom a little inconvenient because the bathroom and bedroom were open and if someone walked over to use the sink, you could hear noise. The shower stalls were a little dark so it's best to turn on the light. While the beds were immaculately arranged, the mattresses were a little soft for my liking.
The resort offered several nice facilities, such as a buffet, gym, bar, and several luxury restaurants. The buffet served breakfast though it remained somewhat the same everyday. However, the dinner options were more varied though arguably, some options were more preferable than others. There were five luxury restaurants, including an Italian, Mexican, steak, seafood, and Asian. I enjoyed the Italian restaurant though the steak menu at the restaurant close to the beach was passable. I would not recommend trying the Asian because I felt the flavors were a little off (though it could be my inner Asian kicking in). The gym was a little small though they did come with treadmills, weight lifting machines, and all the works there. Perfect if you want a little exercise.
The beach view, though, was beautiful, and if you want to do water activities, Riu Playacar is a great location. You could sunbathe, play volleyball, have a little drink, swim, or waddle in the seawater, all near your room. It does take a bit of walking though, and the rooms can be a little hard to navigate in such a spacious area. However, the amenities were worth it. The staff was also friendly and prompt to respond to requests. If you call for technical problems, a mechanic will be at your doorstep in a few minutes.
