water was choppy but our whole group agreed to persevere with the hopes of seeing the whale sharks. once we eventually made it to where all the whale sharks were, each of us was given multiple opportunities to jump in and swim alongside the whale sharks. while i wasn’t able to snap a pic, it was absolutely mesmerizing and worth the sea sickness. the sharks were so calm and unbothered by the people surrounding them, and it was incredible to see how docile they truly are. after swimming with the sharks we went to one of the nearby islands to snorkel, eat, and wait out the choppy waters. they were accommodating to my vegetarian diet and whipped up some killer guacamole. our guides were so friendly and kept us in the loop, even when they thought there was a chance we wouldn’t be seeing the whale sharks. it was a once in a lifetime experience that i am glad to say i was a part of.
