Stayed here for two nights. Got a really good deal. Staff was welcoming and super helpful. Super clean and only a couple of blocks away from the beach and 5th Ave. The décor made me the happiest. Best hotel I've seen since we stayed at playa. We stayed about about 3. I Highly recommended El Hormiguero. I would give it 6 stars if I could and I'm not a generous reviewer. I will definitely be rebooking our next trip.

Location was awesome - very close to 5th avenue, beaches, ADO bus station, Collectivo stand etc. Staff was very friendly and helpful. But bathroom stinks. Water pressure on the shower was low.

Been to playa 2 times. Firstvtime i stayed at a high end resort all inclusive. This time i decided to take a more affordable and explore inducing route. Stayed in El Hormiguero because of their good reviews online. Location is a few boks from the beach and a food park. First night i had no hot water. I let the staff know and the promply oppened another room to allow me to shower and had it fixed in my room by tue end of the day! As far as getting more bang for your buck, you cant do much better than this fellas trust me.

This hotel is all about location. It is literally around the block from the ado bus station and the beginning of 5th Avenue. It is also 2 or 3 blocks from the ferry station. The rooms themselves are nothing fancy and the amenities are a bit dated but the price paid for the room reflects that.

Hotel El Hormiguero was a very nice hotel and a mid ranger when it comes to price for hotels at Playa near 5th Avenue. The only drawback I would say is that it lacks a pool but besides that it's a good choice for a hotel among a sea of very expensive hotels in the area.

Terrible people, you rent a room one price if you need to stay another day the price doubles!!!!
