Overall we had a great stay.
The architecture and a good condition of the hotel compared to other hotels we stayed in Mexico were the main benefit.
One of our complains was the room service food. It didn’t taste good, the burger and eggs Benedict, nachos and chips, everything was so plain and had a weird texture (e.g. burger meat), just not what we expected from a five star hotel in terms of food taste. Breakfast buffet was great though. Sushi tasted good on some days and others fish also had a funny texture like it wasn’t fresh.
On our first day, waiters by the pool wouldn’t ask us if we wanted any drinks until I had to call one of them.
For the most part, the staff was great and very helpful. One of the waiters at the sushi bar, went to get me some French fries from another on premise restaurant (they didn’t have French fries on the menu at the sushi bar duh).
Seaweed wasn’t cleaned on the beach on some days at all, but we still got to enjoy the beach and the ocean. This didn’t bother us much since we understand it’s a big challenge on the coast, and we had an option to stay by the pool on bad days.
Location of the hotel was great, and it was only a five minute walk to a touristy strip with a bunch of restaurants and gift shops. This hotel had an all inclusive option but because of such close proximity to the town and numerous restaurants, I would recommend waving the all inclusive package which I think was like $160/person.
The hotel was nice and quiet most days and nights, but walls in rooms are thin and you can hear drunk people in a hallways at night, people talking in neighboring rooms and even flushing toilets.
Overall, we felt like we got a good value for the money, which makes you think it was more of a “value” hotel than a luxurious 5-star hotel. Though it was the best hotel we stayed in Mexico so far.
