In my mind it was just perfect there! The experience to ride with a bike from one ruin too another is super special.
But I would have 5 stars ⭐️.
But I know that bevor covid I could climb the pyramid and know it isn’t allowed (makes know sense!) so only 3 stars.

Definitely worth spending a half day exploring the grounds. Rent bikes and go at your own pace. Guided tours are offered but our group of 6navigated around just fine. We went mid day and just missed the bustling vans loads of tours. The energy of this special place is something else.

We were greeted early morning by our coach driver Reuben and our tour guide Alex. As a lovely touch we were offered coffee and pastries. Water and juice was also offered.

We were briefed by Alex who advised us what to expect in a really clear and fun way.

We arrived at Coba ruins where Alex's commentary really brought the place alive and gave you a picture in your mind of how life would have been back in those times.

Tuk tuk travel was offered to those wishing not to walk to each point in the Mayan settlement. Walking through the jungle and getting Alex's expert information along the way was both fun and interesting.

Eventually we made it to the main site of the Mayan pyramid which has 120 steps is very steep and quite dangerous. But the views from the top are amazing (so I saw from my partners photographs, I was too much of a wimp to go all the way up there.

It is rumoured that this will be closed for the general public to walk up this year to conserve the site. So get in quick for your last chance to experience this.

Alex was great at giving us a running commentary on historic snipits of info and he had a real passion for the history and mentioned some research he'd personally done which is great.

We then went onto visiting a real Mayan family, as we arrived a 4 year old boy was playing with his toy cars in the garden and a young lady was busy cooking tortillas for us to sample. We also learnt about the Mayan honey and tried a bit of this amazing stuff! I wanted to buy a jar but unfortunately they were not selling them.

We had a demonstration of how the ladies weave the hammocks and how they live and sleep inside their houses.

Our next stop was lunch at a Mexican/Mayan restaurant, the food was absolutely wonderful. The view over the lake was just beautiful.

We then went onto a Mayan sinkhole which you can swim and bathe in. We witnessed a Mayan welcome blessing and a man demonstrated how he climbs the trees to extract sap to make into gum for teeth cleaning.

This then took us onto a Mayan craft shop where we sampled tequila and a type of banana liquor. And we were then left to browse the shop which was full of beautiful items which are very reasonably priced.

You are given the opportunity to purchase a pendant inscribed in Mayan symbols onto an obsidian stone which is one of the sharpest stones the Mayans used this stone for making daggers. Of course your pendant is smoothed down with no sharp edges.

This brought us to the end of our full day of Mayan tradition. I'd highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting it is well worth the price and the tour guide really made it into a fun historic journey for us all. Make sure you book up soon!

What a fantastic day from start to finish. First the amazing climb of the ruins and the ruins tour led by a fantastic TUI guide called Alex who was so knowledgeable and passionate about the whole day. Then a Tuk tuk ride back by one of the local Mayans. Then a visit to a local Mayan village to experience how they live, followed by a lovely meal in a local Mayan village. We then ended the day with an incredible visit to a Cenote, where we had the chance to take a swim. That was just something else. Fantastic day.

An overall, fabulous experience, filled with history and tradition. I loved visiting the Mayan village, who are descendants of the original Mayans, and learning their traditions. The ruins were awesome and we had a great tour guide. We did not partake in the zip lines or swimming, but several in our party did, and loved it. The dinner, and show, that we also had, was wonderful. Highly recommend.

An absolutely amazing excursion! Roberto was a great tour guide. You could he was not only knowledgeable about what he was talking about, but was passionate about it as well. All the stops were both informative and fun. The excursion is a great way to get a little extra beyond just fun in the sun. I would highly recommend it!
