Wonderful hotel. The rooms are a good size. Bed was comfortable. Location is excellent because it's just across the road from plaza del Sol so there's somewhere different to eat every night. All the staff are very good and helpful and can speak good English (thankfully) but special thanks should go to Oscar who works in the restaurant at breakfast time every day. Always happy, always smiling, always friendly and always working hard.

I stayed here regularly about 10 years ago for work. Some things have been improved here, while others are not as good. The rooms I’ve stayed in the last couple weeks have been remodeled and are much nicer than the old ones. I don’t know if they have all been redone. The main restaurant Bistro La Bastille is excellent and probably one of the best restaurants in the city. The breakfast is the cafe is very good with excellent service. The lobby bar is not nearly as good as the old version. The food is good, but the margaritas are terrible, tasting like bottled mix, not what you would expect in a nice bar. Service from the hotel is generally excellent. Benefits from Ambassador membership are not what they used to be here, though I don’t yet know if that is specific to this hotel or to the whole chain.

Edit: Iztel Torres the Hotel front desk manager reached out to me today and apologized personally for the issues, I give her great respect for listening and acknowledging my first impressions and said it was important to hear these things to improve. However, unless there are confirmed room renovations / updates I will likely still choose elsewhere for my next visit.

First impression: I am tempted to check out and go to another Hotel. Bathroom has pubic hair on the toilet seat and there is hair in the shower (I just cleaned it myself, easier than changing rooms). The Rooms: Dated / worn, no USB outlets just std, original ‘iPod’ IHome dock, I have no faith on the ‘clean promise’ based on the overall room condition. Additionally, no water in my room, no major problem so went to Front desk said someone would bring some in 5mins (I specifically asked as I wanted to hit the gym quickly before heading out and I did not anyone in my room as my work files / laptop were out. Well over an hour later…. I am still waiting. Just heard a knock, it was room service delivering to the next door room. Went back to front desk, this time they gave me water, why not just do that in the beginning? Based this initial experience I can not recommend nor will I ever stay again. My only complaint is that I feel the front desk staff should be more knowledgeable about where departing guests could get their Covid test. The 2 farmacias in the Plaza del Sol across the street that they recommended do not do the tests, which caused some last-minute panic to find a location. The one we used was a drive-thru facility about 15 minutes away by an Uber. Other than that, our stay and the staff - particularly in the restaurants - was perfect.

Wonderful hotel and great staff. with a room with a fantastic view of the city skyline. Gracias!!

Few minor issues:
1. TV closed caption(CC) confuses staff and only works on a few channel all spanish.
2. Thermostat in room can 'lock' and no instructions to unlock so must contact maintenance.
3. Ice buckets in room but no ice machine on any guest floor
4. ATM gives receipt only once.
5. Room u0026 bathroom are same temperature but when you come out of shower it is freezing. Maintenance was unsure why.

Overall highly recommend and staff is so courteous and helpful.
Guadalajara is very nice city to visit and enjoyed my stay at the Intercontinental.

I have a bad back so traveling can be tricky- this bed was the best hotel sleep I've had in ages. The bedding, the size of the room, the view of the city- it was a pleasure to come back from meetings every day and just relax. Everyone was very friendly and helpful over my 10 days there. I am booked to stay again for two weeks later this month.
I highly recommend.
