We were there in early March 2022 during off hours so it wasn’t busy. We got a table facing the ocean which was really nice. But that’s about the only good thing I could say.

The food was okay and the Mojito Original was the worst I’ve ever had. It literally tasted like flavored iced water.

Not once did the waiters check on us to see if we needed anything. The place gives you an idea of Cuban food but FAR from being good. Tostones were made from an old and stale plátano, rice with black beans was very dry, masas de cerdo were covered with onions instead of garlic.

We have tried this place twice on the recommendation of friends. Supposedly, the Cuban sandwich is a specialty. The first time we went, they didn’t have those available. Today, they did, so we ordered them and they were awful. They were super dry with no sauce and very little meat and the meat that was on it was way over cooked. Some pieces I couldn’t even pierce with a fork. The service was terrible. We won’t be going back. There so many great restaurants in PV and this is not one of them. Most of the restaurants along the Malecon are not great.

Ambiance and history at its finest. One of Ernest Hemingway’s hide-a-ways. Good food. Great live music.

Highly recommend this place! The vibe is amazing. You could see live salsa dance and listen to a live band right on the Malecon. Not too crazy loud, with beautiful dancer! I Ordered Pollo Cuban which was authentic. Flan, and mojito! Everything tastes delicious.

Great place, great vibe, great food. Live music starts at 19:00 every evening. I gave it 5 stars last year.

UPDATE:
April 2022. Portions are WAY Smaller and prices are up. What happened? We loved this place but ain't going back now.

We have been coming here about 2x a month for the past year. This last time we noticed a huge difference. The portion on the sampler platter were half of what they were. The carnita pieces were small, the meatballs were smaller, etc. My friends then ordered the Cuban sandwiches and we had to look for the ham slice hidden in the bread.

Wow, what a difference a year makes. It was a 5 star place last year, now, meh, 2 stars and only because of the music. Also, Mesa De Coco makes a better Mojito now.

What happened guys? , Viva Cuba!

Excellent view of the busy Malecon from the second floor is why you come here. The food was good, service was adequate, the location is unbeatable. We shared some appetizers and limonadas. The Fish Tacos were good to share, they were on the smaller side. The Mastisas de Cerdo was very good. Tender crispy pork.
