I really wanted this place to be 5 stars. Honestly, making what looks like a parking lot a restaurant with a really cool atmosphere would be difficult but they really pulled it off. Service was nice but he was a bit ‘over attentive.’
Where they lost us was the food, the tacos were tasteless and the flavours didn’t flow.
Not the restaurant’s fault at all-we went for the comedy show - it seemed to lack comedy…
I’d go again for drinks because I loved the atmosphere.

We had a great lunch here last week! The avocado and mushroom tostadas were delicious. We sat and enjoyed some beers after eating as the atmosphere was very relaxing. I feel like this place is overlooked since it is not on the main strip, but I highly recommend it!!

Very reasonably priced spot - would recommend the taco gobernador above all, though the shrimp was good. Very quirky decor, cute spot, lovely and friendly staff, nice to be 2 blocks off the main drag so it’s a bit more low key. The strawberry margarita was so-so, would likely just get a fruit juice instead next time - too sweet and not cold. Overall would go back again to try other things on the menu!

A great place for ambiance and drinks. I paid with credit card and didn't like that the waiter typed in his own tip at 20% and just said "is this ok?" Let me choose my own tip! He was a good waiter but I thought that was strange.

We were passing by and noticed a cozy looking place. I checked reviews that were pretty high.
We came in but that was mistake:
1. The food is weird and below the average. We order the fish tower and tacos. Blue corn tortillas are just tasteless. The filling is greasy and sour. Fish tower is huge but nothing special.
2. But the worst thing is smoking. It seems like it is not allowed to smoke there. And there is one place for smoking. And we sat two tables from there. And we ended up breathing this smoke. Huge minus.
For the food below average I would still give 3 or 4 stars. The waitress did great job at least. But I shouldn’t be forced breathing nicotine

Zitla is a great place, one of the best in Playa Del Carmen and better than restaurants on 5th definitely! It's just a minute off 5th and it's such a hidden gem! We came 3 times for dinner and it was awesome every time! Food was delicious, waiters are all so good and friendly and professional, atmosphere great, wifi, fans cooling the place, drinks were TOP! Food is also very delicious, each time we came we ate different food and everything was so tasty! Recommend ????

Cool restaurant and cocktail bar. Large enough to go with groups, very good music, perhaps the best in the area and excellent atmosphere to relax.

I recommend the tuna tacos and the Gober tacos. I didn't like the steak tacos very much. And of course you have to try the mezcal cocktails!
