We chose this hotel initially because of its liberal cancelation policy. Flights were being canceled right and left and we didn't want to get stuck paying for a hotel we couldn't use. We also wanted to be convenient to the Cozumel ferry for the rest of our trip. And it was near Beach 88 which looked like a nice one. But we were a little worried about being on the second floor with no elevator. Not a problem! Christian (the owner/manager of the hotel and Restaurant 88 below it) helped us shlepp our bags up the stairs. The restaurant provided room service. And the walk up to the roof-top viewing platform was well-worth it.
Our room was a studio with full kitchen, two balconies and a king bed. The price ($70/nite plus tax) was half of anything else we saw online. The restaurant was so good we ended up eating all our meals there both days, not just the delicious included breakfast. We look forward to returning next time we are in PdC.

Good portions, very very slow service. We got the hamburger and beer special which also comes with fries, for 95 pesos. The burger was good, and huge, and the fries were nice and crispy, but it took over an hour for them to arrive at our table from the time we sat down. It wasn't at all busy, so I'm not sure why it took so long. The table near us was also complaining about how long things we're taking. Probably better to just go for drinks here.

I love this place! It's the best sleep I had in all of Playa Del Carmen, and I moved many times because I was looking for an apartment to rent long term. I highly recommend Hotel Sol Playa.

Great experience! Awesome having a kitchen u0026 fridge. Food was delicious and the people are super nice! 5-10 minutes to center of Playa Del Carmen. We paid 35-40 pesos when getting cabs away from the busy 5th Avenue. If not they charge around 95 pesos. Always agree on a price before getting in the cab. There's no meters.

Beautiful hotel with great location! Very close to the beach and you reach Fifth Avenue within 20minutes. The rooms are big and cozy and the breakfast delicious!
Great host that provided us with valuable tips for sightseeing tours and restaurants!

Excellent place with clean facilities. An absolutely gem that more people should be made aware of. Extremely clean, many open windows, and a wonderful staff.

The food and drinks were nice, so was the service. There was a live music band that was very good and entertaining. It's a nice place for late night hanging out.
