We did the Chichen Itza u0026 Cenote tour. Overall we had a good experience, I would round up to 3.5 stars if google allowed me to. But we did feel it was overpriced for the experience.
Pros:
- We did the tour with a small group, so hotel pick up was fast u0026 the tour of Chichen Itza and the dip in the cenote was intimate.
- Our tour guide Edwin was fantastic! He was a wealth of knowledge and made the Chichen Itza tour very special.
- The cenote was stunning u0026 the private nature of the tour meant we got to experience it without crowds. The activities inside the cenote and the rappel down were really fun!
- The food was fantastic, the atmosphere of the canteen was gorgeous and the staff super friendly.
- Entrance to Chichen Itza, the cenote u0026 lunch was all included in the cost.
Cons:
- The van was VERY small. If you are tall, prepare for a long, painful ride. There was no storage available for our bags.
- The only time water was provided was during lunch. We had to rely on our own stash for the rides there and back, and the entirety of Chichen Itza u0026 the cenote.
- We felt we didn’t have enough time at the cenote. Especially if you rappel down, it takes a while to get set up and wait for others to go first. The cenote was the high note for us, so we would’ve appreciated more time there.
- We weren’t able to take pictures inside the cenote, and they had a cash grab of $50USD for the two of us. Would’ve appreciated the option to purchase a photo or two at a reduced cost.
Tips:
- Bring lots of water u0026 sunscreen
- Bring goggles for the cenote
- A sun umbrella for Chichen Itza would be very helpful
- Bring extra pesos if you plan to buy any souvenirs at Chichen Itza, there is plenty of cool stuff there
- Try to purchase the tour on a discount, full price felt too expensive for the value
