We booked a couple of weeks at this hotel and our only regret was not staying longer. We had a great time in Playa del Carmen and this hotel is practically located in the middle of it. Even though it is centrally located, the hotel maintains relative peace and quiet within the premises and is a wonderful place to come home to after spending a day at the beach or coming back after dinner out.

It's easy to prepare for longer stays here. There's a laundry a block away, restaurants as close to being across the street, as well as drug stores and convenience stores. So easy. Knowing what we know now, we will make sure we can maximize our time in sun for much longer next season. Next to those all-inclusives, you can't beat this deal with a stick. I found out that if you book online directly with the hotel you save even more money.

The staff are friendly, accommodating and were generally responsive to our needs and requests from time to time. There's a continental breakfast available and the coffee's good, but we found ourselves often at a French pastry restaurant two blocks away. Hey, what can I say, we like cappuccino. :-)

3 stars at best. The pool, water pressure in the bathroom, and stairs are the biggest let downs. The parking can be tricky as well. The gate will be closed and locked at different times of the day so, you have to go to the front desk and have someone open it, if someone is at the front desk. The pool is small shaded and dirty. There is zero water pressure in the main bathroom, had to use second bathroom for all of us to shower. Don't pay extra for penthouse suites. Not worth it. The only suite with an ocean view is 15. We were in suite 19. If you have small children, the spiral staircase is dangerous! Beware. The breakfast is basic and the furniture is old and stained. The location is great and the staff is friendly.

Don't come here looking for the resort experience. This is a beautiful little hotel nestled in the city streets of Playa del Carmen. If you want something that allows you to walk everywhere and experience the actual city, this is your place. Friendly staff who mostly spoke english and clean rooms. We especially liked having the larger suite with three bedrooms for our family of 5. It was situated like an apartment and we could choose to cook meals or eat out. If I make it back to Playa, I'll stay again.

I would like to make a follow up review, we did not have hot water but they did offer a room with working hot water. Management responded quickly so customer service was excellent.Like I said great hotel, perfect perfect location. Rooftop had the most amazing view. Will be back next year.

I would highly recommend staying in these apartments for any family looking to explore Playa del Carmen downtown and doing activities such as Cozumel, XelHa, Tulum Ruins, etc.

I can gladly say that our stay in Acanto exceeded our expectations. The apartments were very spacious, the beds really comfortable and all of the staff was super friendly and did everything to please us.

I would like to distinguish Miguel who was really friendly and made our stay a pleasure.

It was a little difficult to find the hotel as there is no thru traffic on this street. However, the proximity to all the area attractions on 5th Avenue was perfect! Check in was easy. Room was affordable. Breakfast was included and the pool was cute. Rooms were extremely clean! The air conditioning worked perfectly. The bed was a little squeaky. The safe worked. We had no issues at all. Overall, excellent value for money.

I booked two rooms at Acanto and we had a great stay. One of the units was a very spacious two bedroom suite with kitchen, living room, etc. The second one was a regular size room with a small fridge and a King size bed, which was very comfortable. Air conditioning was very cold and we also had a ceiling fan. WiFi is available throughout the property.

This property has rooms of significantly different sizes, so make sure you pay attention to what you select and what you pay for. This is a boutique style hotel ideally located in the tourist center of PDC, but on a relatively quiet street just half a block away from 5th Ave, which is the main touristy pedestrian only walkway.

If you're looking for a large pool full of screaming party animals with music blasting 24/7, this is just the opposite. Quiet, nice, serene, a really nice place to rest after all day excursions or days spent in the hot sun. Besides the location, the highlight of this hotel is the friendly and helpful staff. Two team members that stood out are Fernanda at the front desk and Miguel, the overnight security officer. The hotel is very safe at night as Miguel is usually posted at the entrance to let guests in after hours. Continental breakfast is served, which saves you time and money. Breakfast starts at 8am, which is a bit late for those who book early excursions, but Miguel took care of us by providing fruits, yogurt, juices, etc when we had to leave at 6:30am.

The beach is literally one and a half blocks down the street from the entrance, but that section of the beach is rocky and mostly used by local fishermen who anchor their boats there. To reach the nice beach, you walk one block north and go one and a half blocks down the street in front of the Hilton Hotel, which is about a 5 to 7 minute walk. There are many restaurants and bars within walking distance of the hotel, some only a few steps away. We highly recommend the Acanto Hotel for families, couples or even the occasional business traveler who doesn't need a large business center on site.
