I have been staying at the Intercontinental Hotel in Polanco, Mexico City for the past several years.
I have always had a very good experience but this past time it was an exception: Lobby Bar , I went with my husband to have a drink and sat at the bar, service was terrible - the waiter that was there didn't even greet us when we sat, he just put a couple napkins on the bar and ask what did we want, I ordered the drinks, then a waitress came and asked if I needed something else so we ordered a glass of white wine ... she poured the glass of wine and we HONESTLY thought it was for my husband to test the wine, and she put the bottle away, I laughed and asked if that was the wine glass size and she said it was, and I am not lying when I say it was not more than 3 cms of wine on the glass. She was not nice, she responded very rudely and from there on they did not even looked at us or asked if we wanted anything else, everyone else was offered a small size of 'botanas' snacks and they never even asked if we wanted some. Bad experience overall , we could have gone right across the street to Karisma where we were always greeted and the service was amazing ! Glad to tip a good amount for that kind of service !! A shame that we did not get the same service in a hotel where I have been a frequent guest.
* Room: never got any refills of coffee, never got any disposable coffee cups to go even though I requested them , my kids stayed in a room on the same floor and they were not allowed to charge the Room service tab to our account - my daughter is 19 years old, she is an adult and was treated like a baby whose not reliable.
I have a high status on your Loyalty program and is really disappointing when don't receive the service and attention that you expect.

Very nice. Great experience and staff was helpful. The do have an English speaking staff. Money exchange on site as well. Rooms were great they were updated for me on the 12th floor. Wish I could have stayed longer. So much to explore in polanco. The entry and art exhibits were top class.

This hotel is located in the Polanco area of town which is a very safe and upscale neighborhood. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The restaurants on property are very good. The rooms are a standard size with all the usual amenities.i highly recommend the InterContinental.

The shoe shine stand outside the entrance does an amazing job for 50 pesos!!!!!!

Will post more photos of the hotel on my next trip.

Stayed here for four nights and it was a very nice stay. The rooms were clean and very quiet, the shower was hot and powerful, house keeping was good and friendly and we had everything we needed. The breakfast was tasty with a selection of Mexican, continental and international options but it wasn't the largest/widest selection I've seen. The hotel is very well located for Polanco and Chapultepec but is a little way from Centro Histórico, although the tourist bus does leave from the National Auditorium just behind the hotel. By far the best thing is that there are some lovely restaurants within the hotel. We ate at the French and the Mexican restaurants and they were both fantastic. The only downside for me was that there was no pool at the hotel.

It IS a beautiful hotel with breathtaking views. The service is excellent and prompt BUT if you encounter a problem you want to discuss there is no manager to talk to.
I was moved twice.. first time because an alarm was activated every hour with a loud chirp.. and the hair dryer was broken.
Second room.. the Nespresso machine was disconnected and the main shower head didn’t work. They ended offering me an upgraded room with an even better view. In that room everything worked just fine.
All the rooms have a gadget to connect your tablet or iPhone.. that is.. a 30 pin jack if it happens you still use a phone that was prior to 2012.. I thought it was funny but honestly it shows that no one is paying attention..an outlet discontinued ten years ago??? Wow.
The food offering is great with 5 restaurants to choose from. My favourite is Chapulin but also I had great simple food at Urbano.. I also tried room service and it was just perfect.
At the end of my stay they put a very nice plate with delicious chocolates. Nice touch.
THE ONLY HICKUP.. I reserved a taxi to pick us up at the airport as we arrived very late. I had the option to pay directly to the driver ($80 us.. I know) or to be added to my bill. I choose to pay directly which I did.. just to find out that they also charged me in my final bill. I emailed them and it was a disaster.. they questioned my claim and at the end gave the reason to the driver who doble dipped me. I had to email corporate just to get their attention. Never got my money back but the worse part was adding insult to the injury… so the lesson is DI NOT PAY DIRECTLY TO THE DRIVER WHO PICKS YOU UP AT THE AIRPORT..let them charge it to your room.
Because of the poor experience and the lack of room maintenance deserves just the three stars..

We had an amazing time at the InterContinental Presidente. Excellent location and easy access to all parts of Mexico City. Arriving from an early flight into Mexico City the concierge had arranged an early check in and we stayed in the Alberto Gironella suite.

The service and friendliness was superb and all tours and guides can be arranged through the hotel.

Our suite had a glass enclosed box shower with built in steam room in the bedroom and the views across Chapultepec Park were amazing. Large lobby area with stunning changing artwork and a great selection of different restaurants and cafes. One of our favourite stays in a hotel. Can't wait to go back.

My wife and I had an amazing stay at this location. The views from the 41th floor are breathtaking and it’s incredibly well-located for exploring Polanco. My experience checking in was impeccable.
