Hands down, the best customer service (and most beautiful aesthetic) of any hotel we have visited.

The (included) breakfast was absolutely amazing - delicious, healthy, beautifully prepared and infused with local flavor. The staff at the Diplomat have an uncommon and surprising warmth and attention to detail. The room was immaculate and beautifully decorated. Sara arranged restaurant recs, knowledgeable guides and gave honest, practical advice on how to plan our itinerary. This whole experience was exceptional.

We only spent one night at The Diplomat, but it was a highlight of our trip to the Yucatán. Sara and Neil and their staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. It’s evident that a great deal of care and thought has gone into the business and that the owners and staff really want to help you have a great experience in Merida, they gave us lots of insider tips and recommendations. The hotel itself is beautiful, the pool area is such a calm oasis, and our room was lovely.The breakfast was wonderful, too. I really couldn’t recommend The Diplomat more highly.

We couldn't have imagined a better place to stay and be hosted during our first time in Merida. You feel so welcomed and at home from the moment you step in the door. From the intimate experience of staying in small hotel that only has 5 rooms, to the uniquely designed and comfortable rooms and gathering spaces, to the connections made with other guests, to the incredibly fresh and different breakfasts served every morning and finally to the friendly staff and exceptional owners Sara and Neil... there is truly no other hotel in Mexico that evokes a sense of place like the Diplomat does. We will definitely be back!

I have stayed in many different hotels around the world and can honestly say that this has been my favourite hotel ever.

The rooms are grande and yet so comfortable and relaxing. The attention to detail are absolutely amazing, not just in the rooms, but everywhere.

The staff and especially the owners, Neil and Sarah take great pride in providing the best service you can imagine. You really get to bond with them and create a great connection.

I also loved spending time in the pool.

This boutique hotel only has 5 rooms, so it is a very intimate experience and was also great to bond with the other people who were also staying there.

And the breakfast, WOW!!

I was originally planning on seeing the sights in Merida, but ended up spending so much time at this hotel instead, as it was such a great escape at a little oasis that I much needed.

Not only is The Diplomat a beautiful hotel in an excellent location, but it is also owned by Neil and Sarah, the best hosts we've ever had. We've stayed in amazing locations all over Mexico, but we have never experienced such attention to detail and service as we did at The Diplomat. The room decor and lush courtyard were so inviting we almost didn't want to leave the hotel.

This was our first time in Merida and Neil and Sarah gladly arranged for excursions with knowledgeable local guides, arranged a rental car (easy process), and made sure each day was exactly what we wanted.

We looked forward each evening to the complimentary tequila / mezcal bar and lounging around the pool, and each morning we couldn't wait to see what new breakfast menu would be awaiting us from the in-house chef.

We're already looking at dates for when we can return next year! Thanks Neil and Sarah!

Outstanding! Wonderful! Comfortable! Delicious! Excellent! Will return! What more can be said?!? Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Diplomat Boutique Hotel in charming Merida.

Sara and Neil and Carla and Paola and Renata are so welcoming and helpful. Been thinking about our visit ever since we left!

We are speechless. Sara, Neil and their entire team gave us an incredible stay. The furnishing and design of every detail is so loving and creative, we have never seen such a great boutique hotel. And you immediately notice that everything is done to preserve this great atmosphere.

The service is indescribable. We were greeted with delicious margaritas, we could get coffee, tea and cold drinks at any time and in the evening there was always very good tequila or mezcal available. The breakfast is by far the best of our trip. A new creation is put together for each morning and served in a very appealing way. Outstanding!

Sara, Neil and their team give you a very good overview about Mérida and they are always available for questions and assistance. We felt completely comfortable and would have preferred never to leave again.
