We have stayed at Mom's a dozen times over the years. The rooms are basic, not all have AC, some have basic kitchen stuff, mattress comfort is hit or miss. The staff are all friendly, speak passable english. The on site bar/rest can be loud sometimes and it echoes around the courtyard. The small pool is great for prepping your SCUBA gear and gearing up. Protec dive shop is in the same building and although not a dive shop for the masses (think technical cave deep) they can fill tanks and have gear for sale. Very reasonable prices to stay at Mom's.

This review is entirely about the associated restaurant and not the hotel.

This is a great "go-to" place for expats wanting menu not filled with tortillas y chiles y frijoles - not that there's anything wrong with those, it's just that sometimes you want some meatloaf or chicken fried steak or some other tasty savory option. This is the place in Playa.

The menu itself is actually fairly limited, but if you know you are coming here for something not on a tortilla you may still have trouble choosing which dish you want most.

The server Anna is really nice and has excellent English (and great conversation as well!)

Bathrooms are simple, but clean.

My biggest wish about this place is that they do a weekend breakfast. Alas, they only open at 4pm and stay open late.

I've eaten a lot of good places in the two months I've been in Mexico This is the best I'm not even a stupid guy This is the best hands down

Great place couple blocks away from beach literally walking distance also a Walmart around the corner strand has good shops

Mom's Hotel is a very nice hotel, the atention to detail and to the customers is just perfect, a very good experience for anyone or any family

Great place for food and refreshments. Staff are attentive and a good atmosphere.
