A uniquely beautiful hotel! Centrally located for all the fun of fifth avenue, close to the ferry to Cozumel, and walking distance to the beach. Our room was absolutely beautiful and the staff was very kind. The rooftop is a great place to have a glass of wine and enjoy the view of the ocean and lights of Cozumel.

My husband and I originally booked 9 days and then ended up staying an extra 2 days. At first I was a bit leery due to how close it was to 5th Ave and the beach.. but then it became an asset as the days went by. My husband could roam the streets and still find his way back no matter where he went lol and he went everywhere ???? ???? "Live Your Life" was what the store owners called him because of his back tattoo.. and because that's exactly how my husband lives! We came here to help him transition from his addiction and to re build our relationship. The first few days was hard but with the friendly staff Jose, Leticia, Jaclyn and the others (I'm so sorry I didn't get your names) we were able to have a safe and adventurous time. We ate at the restaurant a few times and ordered up to our room as well. The food was delicious and the service was #1. We also found that eating at the taco trucks out the street was good and cheaper. We shopped off 5th Ave too and Wal-Mart we could walk to In about 10 minutes (so don't get a taxi until you come back save you 150pesos and it's only 100 pesos back.)
The seven 11 is pretty cheap too! We also had some helpful tips on free or really cheap things to do close to the hotel. (Ask Jose about the swimming ????u200d♂️ pool best night EVER!!) Anyways these guys and gals are seriously the best I've ever encountered in the hotel business and i travel a lot! I actually got home sick leaving. A special thank you to Kaclyn and Leticia for their kindness and Jose for his sense of humor. Steve and Alejandra you two hire outstanding people ???? and we thank you! Any time you want to house swap let us know.
We'll go to the beach while you hit the snow here in UTAH. Now As my husband put it on our last night there "BEST..VACATION..EVER!!"

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Cielo for our late Honeymoon celebration (as we got married in the middle of COVID). About a week before our trip I started to get nervous about how much would be open, based on the variant, and what I had read in the news about possible shutdowns. A quick call to the Hotel Cielo team was all that was needed to alleviate my fears. Jose answered all of my questions in wonderful detail, and really left the decision in our hands - they were flexible but assured us that if we came, we wouldn't regret it, and they were so right!

We arrived and were checked in by the very lovely Front Desk Agent - she was there throughout most of our stay and always warm and welcoming. The room was exactly as pictured - no surprises. Housekeeping service was prompt at refreshing our room and towels daily.

As you will read in some of the reviews, the streets can be noisy at times. Honestly, we loved this as we were right in the mix of things - you are so close to 5th Avenue! Some of our favorite moments were enjoying the views and people watching from our balcony. On our final night, right outside of the restaurant (and our room), was a very talented young artist who was singing to the diners in Carboncitos - it was such a treat that we ran down there to tip her, as it was great entertainment from the comfort of our room!

The location was absolutely perfect. We did multiple tours and also took time to walk around and explore on our own - absolutely everything we wanted to do, including various pickup points for transportation, was within walking distance from the hotel. The beach is SO close, which is an added bonus as the hotel will provide beach towels and you can leave your valuables in the room.

Sadly, we had a VERY early flight out of the Cancun Airport and had to depart the hotel in the wee hours of the morning. The overnight staff member did not have full access to our account to return our $25 deposit when we checked out, but promised to pass along the details to the morning staff to coordinate thereafter. I received an email later that same day, as well as subsequent phone calls from the owner, Steven, to ensure that the transaction went through. This follow-up was such a nice touch and greatly appreciated. Great service and leadership comes from the very top - and it's apparent this is the case at this quaint and lovely hotel!

We will definitely be back to Hotel Cielo and Playa when our travels allow!

Perfect location! My fiancé and I initially planned to check out a few different hotels but we loved everything about Hotel Cielo. Our room was beautiful, with a smart tv, and a beautiful view of the beach. Loud at night but that was expected. The staff were amazing and so helpful. Definitely returning.

3 star hotel. Basic. Overpriced for what they offer. No cable TV. Noisy AC units.
Do not get rooms 1 or 2 on the main floor. Very noisy all day and night. Very small rooms with even smaller washrooms.
Service is good special from owner.
Remember here you get what you pay for.
Carboncitos restaurant very expensive.

I stayed at hotel Cielo in early January and was immediately hit by the authentic look of traditional Hispanic culture. We checked in and was aided by extremely helpful staff as we settled in. The view of the Caribbean Sea from our room balcony was simply breathtaking. The room, you knew was very clean and well maintained and provided probably the BEST mattress I've had at a hotel, and I travel often. The proximity to the bus station, as well as the ferry, both less than 10 minutes walking, is something you can't beat considering it is right off the famous 5th Avenue. We were all settled in and then took a walk to the rooftop. The view, the fresh Caribbean breeze, will sweep any worry away as you are taken away to relaxation. It truly is a relaxing view. The entire hotel gives you that feel of relaxation. Then, the highlight, the attached Carboncitos Restaurant. Truly amazing food! You must have a margarita a la Steve as well as the pulled pork. Also, the steak and seafood is simply amazing. Everything we ate there was mouthwatering. I can't talk enough about how friendly each and every staff member was. If you are looking for a truly unique experience, with great location, cleanliness, staff, and comfort, this is your place to be.
Make sure to book your Playa del Carmen stay with Hotel Cielo.

Great place to eat. I love the restaurant! The rooms are amazing too. Beautiful view from roof top.

Still the same great place it has been for years. The only change is, like the rest of the world, they are dealing with a labor shortage.
