Picaditas, gorditas, and chilaquiles, oh my! This locals' spot has a fun vibe and delicious food! It has dishes from different regions of Mexico. The salsas were great. The mango smoothie was awesome. Service was okay. They weren't that friendly and food took quite a while.

Super chill hangout/lunch spot. We had some yummy frozen mint lemonades and there happened to be some live electronic music! Food was ok. Love the colorful mushroom vibe

Authentic restaurant away from the tourist area! The restaurant is super cute with a hippy feeling, they play lovely music and the staff is very friendly. You can tell that it’s a restaurant runned with love by the food that they serve! The breakfast was delicious and their lemonade with mint was amazing a must when you go to hongo. Can’t wait to come back here for lunch or to try other items on the breakfast menu. So happy to have found this little gem!

If you are looking for authentic home cooking with an awesome vibe, El Hongo is a must visit while in Playa Del Carmen! The food was delicious, service was superb, and prices great!

El Hongo is another local gem. So far I’ve had the adobo chicken and fried rice. The food hasn’t disappointed me yet and I find the prices and service very satisfactory. Also the decor and ambiance here are a vibe.

A beautiful and artsy location away from all the crowds and tourism. Great prices and even better food. Their menu states they can make dishes vegetarian. I recommend the Gordita rellena and the guava water.
