This Ah Cacao location is one of the biggest is Playa del Carmen. But it is still packed with expats working all day long on their computers. You can’t find any open tables because all they do is work on their computers. There should be a time limit. It is not fair for us that are really going to be consuming more than one coffee. FIX THIS!

I really like this place. The Mocha coffee can be made sugar-free with 100% cocoa. Both the spinach and chocolate tamales are divine. There are some vegan treats too. The staff is nice and the vibe chilled enough for relaxing or working on the laptop too.

Outstanding Coffee experience! The baristas really know how to make a great cup of coffee. The service and presentation were impeccable. I had a Cappuccino. It was perfect, rich creamy goodness. Perfect froth. Wonderful coffee flavor.

highly attentive staff, delicious chocolate croissant, and you can’t go wrong with any of their beverages. though i highly recommend something chocolate based, given that it is their specialty (with good reason). the employee with the ice bear pin has been kind to me on the several days i visited this establishment and i will miss it once our trip is over.

Adore this cafe! I heard great things about this cafe and so the intention was to come and get some work done on my laptop - which I did! And they had great wifi!

Of course I had to try something at this cacao chocolate cafe! I got the chocolate frappe with soy milk (5/5) and my partner got the hot chocolate (4/5). They were so yummy!

Would definitely come back for their drinks, desserts and to get work done!

This location has tables outdoors, on the main floor and an indoor upstairs. Lots of space!

This place serves great coffee- (and chocolate) based drinks, as well as desserts. They also sell fruit based drinks and different coffee- and chocolate products. As far as could gather, the coffee comes from local family farms.
The service is speedy and excellent.
Indoor and outdoor seating.
Noticed a lot of people using the place as a remote workplace (lots of people on computers and plenty of power outlets).
Free wi-fi if you buy something.

A true “Bean-to-Bar” operation, utilizing zero-emissions solar energy from fermentation to roasting and winnowing, Ah Cacao Chocolate Café began in 2004 on a single family farm in Mexico – its products now offered online, in partnering shops and across five Cafes throughout Quinta Roo.

Based out of Playa del Carmen, the store on Fifth Avenue between 38th and 40th Streets offering air conditioned respite from nearby beaches, it is alongside several packaged goods that the tidy Café serves Pastries, Sandwiches and Coffee at prices a bit higher than other smaller brands, though still a bargain compared to similar items in the United States of America.

Supported by Xcaret, and bolstered by online sales during COVID-19, one bite of Ah Cacao’s 72% Dark Chocolate is all one needs to appreciate the quality of Mexican Cacao, its brightness dissipating into smoother herbal bitters and lingering sweetness well-suited for baked goods such as a thin yet dense Brownie.

Also taking on Desserts without Chocolate, a double-stack Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting performing well while Pastel de Maiz that eats like New York Cheesecake is truly mesmerizing, do not let Playa del Carmen’s humidity thwart a look at Ah Cacao’s Chocolate Croissant which offers not only filling but drizzle amidst proper lamination.
