Ate there last night and it was really outstanding. Lovely place, beautiful decor, top service and excellent food. We are going back tonight, it was that good. I really can't believe some of the reviews here, our party of four (3 Brits and a Mexican) could not fault it. I had the Parrillada which was outstanding.

Because we have always enjoyed dining at this lovely, simple Oaxacan restaurant, I give it a high rating. It has a perfect location above a corner of the zocalo, and if you have a table by a window, you get a nice view. The food and wines are tasty and quite reasonable. [In writing this review I learned how to update Google's information, since the hours Google (and other sources, like Trip Advisor) had posted were incorrect. For some strange reason Google allows one to suggest an edit only with Google Maps and not other apps, like simply Google, which is what I'm using to write this.] Getting back to the restaurant, it's a place that we always have a delightful and delicious meal, so surely that is worth 5 stars.

We were having a great time. Our waiter was fantastic, the location and atmosphere is great.
However I cannot think of a worse meal that was served to me anywhere in Mexico. I had the chile relleno.....I swear it was leftovers from last week. My wife's meal was better but really quite ordinary. So unless you want to get over charged for beans and rice be my guest.
I recommend that with a bit more effort and a couple of blocks away from the square you'll find your gem. Try El Olivio Gastrobar. It won't disappoint.
Cheers and happy dinning

the food is disappointingly bland. anything on the zocalo should be suspected. there are so many good places in centro. don’t bother with this one if you’re, like me, a tourist looking to get the best flavors the city has to offer.

Mole negro was the best I have ever had. The Suero Negra Modelo (lime juice, ice and beer) perfectly refreshing. The only reason I didn't do 5 stars was my tortillas were cold and a little hard.

Friday evening dinner...the enmolada with mole negro and the tamales de mole were tasty. But the tlayuda was nothing special and the restaurant is fairly run-down. If you can snag a balcony table, the view of the cathedral and zócalo is lovely.
