Here is the reason why I give it five stars. The hotel is nice, the staff friendly, the atmosphere is beautiful. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to be closer to the center of Oaxaca. There restaurants nearby, selling gifts for anyone who wants to buy stuff for their family and friends, and nice views and sightseeing. Go out there and enjoy.

I forgot the pictures!
But the rooms are very comfortable, roomy and beds good.
The shower is a little inconvenient because the bathtub it's very high. I traveled with my parents who are old people, so that was uncomfortable for them but out of that, the staff were absolutely professional and reliable.

We loved being in the middle of town and enjoying the live music of Miércoles de Danzón watching people dance and have such a good time. The hotel staff were wonderful and we definitely will keep HMV as an option on a future trip to Oaxaca.

The hotel was clean, and the rooms were nice. But their internet connection was too weak to reach the rooms. So to use the internet, I had to sit in the hallways. This was also the loudest hotel I have stayed at. The music from the zocalo, combined with the hallway accoustics made it very difficult to sleep.

This hotel is garbage. Yes the location is good, but there are a ton of other options in the same area that are better and similarly priced. Everything in the hotel is very old, the hot water is unreliable, and the wifi is unusable (my 3G phone signal was MUCH faster). I even watched them dig through a garbage can to harass another guest about a broken lightbulb on a lamp (my lamp looked like it was literally 40 years old), and then wouldn’t let them pay with the card on file and wouldn’t tell them how much it would cost, wasting their time and mine while I was trying to check out and get to the airport. Do yourself a favor, stay elsewhere.
