Had to go here for its history. Torteria La Texcocan has been here since 1936, it is the oldest in Mexico City.
The tortas are small in comparison to others served by street vendors, but the taste and toppings are simple. They are not piled up like others. The bread is fresh, avocado is just avocado, sauce was delicious and the meat is soft and juicy. Inexpensive and the service was excellent. If you are near the center-near Parque Alameda, give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

La Texcocana is a Tortas( trad. mex. sandwiches) place with a lovely old couple running it, the place has been in operation for 86 yrs, so if you feel like a good old fashioned torta, highly recommended????

A tiny place with really tasty tortas. Don't expect those fatty tortas full of ingredients. These are simple but full of flavor. Carnitas is the best!
