Large gallery in an old colonial building with 2 floors of real art. The curators have appreciation of Naïf or Outsider Art, very expressive, interesting. Also good location, Santiago neighborhood.

This gallery is an essential stop when you're in Merida's Santiago neighborhood. It's a lovely 2-level space filled with a wide range of local artists. The owner is also really welcoming and knowledgeable about the artists in the gallery. Confirm hours but appears to close at 2pm.

I finally went in to Galeria La Eskalera yesterday on the way to Mercado Santiago and .... fell madly in love immediately with many of the painters and sculptors! Exceptional! When in Merida, do go!
