Do yourself a favor and stay here! I made a last minute accommodation change and so happy I did, I loved my stay at El Palacito Secreto. The entire space was absolutely beautiful and so calming with gorgeous scenery full of interesting antiques and lush fauna, plus classical music playing in the background. The staff was absolutely amazing as well. They were so helpful and always went out of their way to help me out with any questions or requests I had. I felt very taken care of while there. Additionally, the breakfast was great! It exceeded my expectations and was delicious. I highly recommend a visit to Merida and a stay here!

The Palacito Secreto is a special place where time stands still amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. The air is cool within its high walls, soft music plays in the background, and everywhere you look you find beauty in curved lines, beautiful tile, palm trees, pools and columns that evoke an earlier era. We stayed for three weeks and couldn’t have been happier with our stay. Every staff person was kind, welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed breakfasts on the patio each morning, we tried out massages in the spa which were amazing, and we received great recommendations for good restaurants, tours and places to visit. We loved our stay and we’ll be back.

Wow!

This hotel has such a wow factor when you enter. I love the unassuming facade of the buildings in Merida and then you enter a gorgeous courtyard.

The pool is lovely and available 24 hours. The staff are fantastic and the rooms very comfortable. We ended up extending our staff at this hotel because we enjoyed it some much. Breakfast was very very good also.

On the downside currently there is construction happening next door, which can make it a little noisy. Also if you are in a ground floor room and some is above you, then you can hear every step taken.

If you are in Merida I would definitely recommend this hotel and will be staying again on my next visit.

Truly a wonderful hideaway. The staff was welcoming and accommodating threw out our stay and the room exceeded expectation!!! We were given drink coupons to the newly renovated bar and the bartender was informative and happy to chat with us. She told us the hotel pool was modeled off the Versace mansion in Miami and I have been lucky enough to have been there last year so we went threw photos and compared… so much fun. I definitely recommend!!

A hotel in Mérida owned by an Irish expat and designed to look like a French baroque castle? Porque no!

Was really using this Mérida stop as a rest between Mexico City and Chichen Itza. Holy wow did it blow us away!

From the street it looked like the taxi dropped us in the wrong place. Exceedingly modest from the front, and the street was a little funky. Upon opening the door, we got a first glimpse of the front salon, outside restaurant and the baroque pool enclosure, que sorpresa!!

* Decor - five stars - unique and creative.
* Room was spacious with high ceilings, Victorian antiques and a twin day bed in addition to our king bed. The bathroom was a little cozy but functional.
* Breakfast in the outdoor restaurant was free and tasty. We grew to love huevos motelenos in the morning.
(NOTE: The hotel staff keeps free, nontoxic citronella mosquito repellent on a table by the front door. We found it helpful. )
* Our room had a private- ish pool right outside, away from the other rooms and public areas. Magical.
* The bar, and bartender, were a nice surprise in the evenings.
* Made use of the massage room, got couples massage, HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
* Grew to love the neighborhood, the friendly people, proximity to restaurants and the town square. Did so much walking and exploring.
