La Ruina just reopened after covid shutdown, bringing back one of Merida's great local cantinas. Cleaner, nicer, but same great botanas. Maybe even better in terms of variety. Excellent, friendly, attentive service. Bar is like a pub, but no seating at the bar itself as in the old days. Several seating areas, including an outdoor patio. Live music in inner patio. Crowded for an early Monday afternoon. A local hangout. Like all cantinas now, no more cagumas. But, now have cheladas and micheladas and a menu of mostly seafood dishes and daily selections. I'm putting La Runina on my growing list of great historic cantinas in Merida. Cheers!

Authentic cantina a few steps from Mérida Bus station. What to expect at Bar La Ruina? Friendly service, cold beers, a lot of free tapas-like food, live music and a typical Mexican atmosphere. I highly recommend this place!

Nice local tradicional cantina with live music on the weekends. Beers come fast and are cold, excellent selection of free botanas, service is good, prices are very affordable. It's a good place to spend an afternoon with friends

Perfect traditional cantina. You get nuts with your drink and the staff are super nice. Also the toilet was really clean with paper and soap!

Fantastic little bar!! Super friendly staff serving drinks with delicious little snack share plates. Was a highlight of our trip to Merida.
