Travelers, this may be what you're looking for.

Pros: conveniently located next to an Italian restaurant with basic free breakfast for guests, a good taqueria, a convenience store, and a family owned deli. Right across the street from a ferry to Isla Mujeres and a small theater. Located in the northern part of the Hotel Zone, which means it's a short ride to downtown where you can find the restaurants and businesses the locals enjoy. Friendly staff, relatively affordable rates.

Cons: wifi is slow and a tad unreliable, staff don't all speak English, no refrigerator, no easy access to ATMs, the toilet was hard to flush, and I briefly did not have water in the bathroom (but they fixed it quickly)

If you're an explorer with basic Spanish looking for a solid base of operations that won't break the bank, the Calypso has my recommendation.

Terrible, Staff is rude Gerardo at night is completely rude. Was completely disrespectful and kept speaking in Spanish knowing that I didn't know it. Extorted me for 40.00 more in cash that he put in his pocket even tho I had paid for a room online.

Positive: I liked the price and that it was on the 1 and 2 bus lines that take you to the plays torture and plays selfies for 12 pesos each way. It looks decent but the 3 star hotels feel more like 2 star. Negative: The furnishings were old and in bad condition, no WiFi in the rooms, only the lobby, no breakfast offerings.

The Good: convenience store near, ploite staff, spacious rooms.
The Bad: very slow wifi, the cleaning could be better, no refrigerator, the pool looks dirty, no good water pressure in the showers, the balcony needed better isolation.

Even 1 star is to much for this Hotel.
My nephew was guest at this hotel, he was complaining about the rome cleanliness and their service. I called more than 10 times to hotel To talk with my nephew but I couldn’t. All my phone connections was disconnected intentionally from hotel employee , the hotel employee even couldn’t speak English, it was horrible.
Don’t waste your money to stay at this hotel ????????

The pools were absolutely disgusting it was foggy as if they never cleaned it.The water in the shower get super hot when you first turn it on and then gets cold.It seem as if they don’t clean the bathrooms well.I don’t recommend if you are trying to have the best experience in cancun.

You get what you pay for I guess! The rooms were pretty decent and the pool area is beautiful. However there are 2 pools but no hot tub? And the rooms don’t have a refrigerator, microwave, etc. the tv is horrible quality and can only watch channels in Spanish. The view is good. Price is good. Location is pretty good. Staff doesn’t understand English and can’t speak English hardly at all. Overall just a decent/cheap hotel to stay at if you are wanting to save money.
