Had an emergency while visiting Cancun in April 2022, was transferred to Amerimed from Hospiten as they could not help me due some equipment malfunctions. I spent 10 days in ICU and 7 days in a regular room. All the doctors/nurses were extremely helpful and attentive, while recovering in icu the directors from both Amerimed and Hospiten came to check on me, as they heard about my case. I think the care was as good or better then in some US hospitals. Spouse did have to put up a deposit (about 2500 USD) for me to be seen and she had to work with the US based insurance to get letters of payment guarantees sent to Amerimed every 4-5 days. 3 Months after returning home my current specialist informed me that my Cancun specialist had actually called him to talk about my case and to see how I was doing. So in review the medical care is great, yes you might be fighting with administration about letters or guarantees from you insurance company but as my wife found out if you have your insurance send them to your email you can then forward to the hospital to eliminate the "We haven't received it yet" My current bill when being released from Amerimed was 743K, all sent to insurance minus the deposit my spouse did, and no payment questions were even asked when we were being released from Amerimed. It sucks they want deposits/payments up front but they are a Private hospital and not a public hospital, and they will stabilize you in an emergency.
