A restaurant that is overrated. We came because the place is highly rated but there were a few things that detracted from the whole experience. The waiters tried to show good service but I think it was just annoying. Every moment a waiter came to clear crumbs from the table. One of them asked if I was done with a dish, I said no. Came after 2 minutes another waiter asked again if it was possible to take it again. There were too many waiters on our table and it was unpleasant. The food was fine, no more than that they bring bread (which was dry and cold) after ordering which we thought was at the expense of the house, and I was surprised to find out that they took money for it without our knowledge. The Greek salad is disappointing - vegetables that don't look good and the amount is really small. The pizza we ordered had like a disproportionate amount of arugula and a little too much sauce. And the fish ordered was dry. The Tuscan pasta was great. All in all a not fun experience, relatively expensive prices, food that sounds Italian but not really, and service that tries too hard and is insensitive.

Came here for my mother's birthday dinner and the experience was great! The servers are accommodating and speak English well. The prices are very good for the quality of food you get.
I ordered the Bella Italia pizza, my brother ordered the Fettuccine dish and my mother ordered the steak. I had a bite from all 3 dishes and it really was an authentic Italian taste. We loved the pizza so much we ordered 3 more pies the other day for a dinner.
Highly recommend checking out Don Mario when you are vacationing in Playa.

A nice place to have a meal with friends. Semi-outdoor seating adds that exotic feel you’ve left the US to experience while not venturing too far. Certainly a place to have a nice brick oven Pizza.

Turns out Italian in Playa Del Carmen, can be authentic, delicious, and inexpensive.. This is a cute little place tucked away behind the main strip. Their pasta is made fresh in house, their pizza is the real deal, with real italian ingredients and a crispy on the outside, tender on the inside thin crust, with that brick oven char. The service is also excellent and attentive as it seems to be everywhere in Mexico. My wife, isn't even that big on Italian and she still loved her pizza and the salmon Carpaccio, served with a mox of fresh breads, including garlic and focaccia. I had The Cioppino and it came with shrimp, mussels,clams, and a meaty white fish, I think was grouper. We both really enjoyed the infused oil with garlic and chilis. The only negative was no AC, just ceiling fans and it was extremely hot, but they do deliver, so if you're staying in Playa Del Carmen, you can enjoy authentic Italian in your hotel room.

Amazing food and ambiance. They have a good selection of drinks and pasta, with different options of sauce and add-ons. We didn't try the pizza, but the smell was great. There was live music from street performers, which was very nice as well.
The food itself was really good, and we also had a passion fruit mojito (must try). Overall, highly recommended! ????????????????

Walked to this place because of the great reviews. Wasn't really impressed. Just pass on this place. The Caprese Barata salad was dry and the cheese was sour. We had to send the dish back (2 orders of it). They didn't even take it off the bill at first so we had to ask ????. Some pastas are a hit or miss depending on the sauce. Pesto tasted good. Don't expect anything amazing unfortunately. On the plus side, the Aperol Spritz were great!

Food was fresh and tasty. The bread to start the dinner is very good and come directly out of the pizza ofen. Prices are ok and the staff is friendly. It's a very busy place.
