Good option if you absolutely need an indoor pool at your hotel and you also want economic pricing. Pool was clean, not too much chlorine, just big enough for a few families to swim, shallow and deep parts. Exercise room only has an Iron Man cable powered unit that is barely working. No sit up bench, weights or anything else.
Beds were comfortable and big.
Here's the bad:
First thing you notice walking in the hotel is that it feels much smaller than the online photos make it look. As with many Mexican building constructions, things that are meant to have lots of breathing room seem to be cramped together in a small space. There is lots of antique sculptures and furniture hanging around the lobby and they don't help with the fact that you know this hotel must be so old and outdated. The tub in the room had a rusty drain hole and the toilet had ancient ceramic cracks inside. OLD, OLD, OLD!!! The biggest problem has to be the privacy though. There are no halls in this hotel. All the rooms open directly to the cafe in the middle. You can hear almost everything going on in the cafe from your room with the door closed, so you know that they could probably hear you. Very bad if you have kids you are yelling at, or having any loud conversation. About the cafe, you are told you get free breakfast with your room. LIES. The waitress makes you go to the front desk to get a stupid paper coupon to get only free coffee and sweet rolls. And THEY DON'T GIVE THE COUPON TO YOUR KIDS!!! Then they have a big breakfast buffet table but they charge regular cafe prices for that. There was only average Mexican food, with NO pancakes, no hash browns, no bacon, no sausage, no waffles. All the comfort food you expect in a hotel was gone. The sweet rolls were DRY and tasteless. The coffee mediocre. The staff acted like they did not want to do their job and avoided helping tables. Then, AFTER we ate, around 10am, they brought out some pancakes. I was pretty furious. If it weren't for my wife feeling uncomfortable, I would have been ripping up the staff throughout the breakfast experience.
The service was poor. They asked too many questions when we requested extra bath towels for the room, they gave only 2 for a family of 5. They didn't replace the towels mid day after removing All of them from the room to wash. Whoever cleans the room does not move the beds to clean behind, because when we were looking for something we lost and moving the beds, we found a cluster of lint bunnies and dust cakes. Gross. Probably not going here again with literally hundreds of options around the area. Probably paying more for La Quinta next time.
