I made a lunch reservation and didn’t realize it was a la carte instead of tasting menu which was fine. When I was seated for lunch, they gave me two menus that were both tasting menus, one even had my name personalized on it! So this got my hopes up but which were then deflated when they told me it was a mistake and was still doing a la carte. Other than that, service was impeccable.
As for the food:
Huitlacoche quesadilla soup was way too salty. I understand the Huitlacoche is supposed to balance that out but as it absorbs the soup, the whole thing becomes too salty.
Pastrami was strongly flavored and the chickpea purée was simply amazing but yet again, the dish was too salty. Possibly a little less au jus sauce with the sweetness added bringing out too much of the salt levels.
Honey dessert was pretty tasty, but just a little bit too much olive oil.
The drink I had was amazing with a nice refreshing balance of tart from the grapefruit and sweetness from the syrup and lavender.
After tax and tip, the meal came out to $60USD ($1200 MXN) which included one alcoholic beverage, one espresso, bottled water, appetizer, main and dessert so price was fairly reasonable for a higher end restaurant but the food left a bit to be desired (too much salt that I couldn’t finish the appetizer and main)
