Walked in by myself (couldn't convince my friends) and wasn't sure to expect. The place is very unassuming. It looked like an actual bar of pirates. I speak only a little Spanish so I was pretty alarmed.

Fortunately, the people working there were nice, the pulque was delicious and the prices were extraordinary

From what I’ve across thus far, this is my favorite pulpería in Mexico City. Pulquería “La Pirata” is the real deal. From the swinging saloon doors when you walk in, to the groups of mostly older men seated around and sharing stories, toasting and laughing with their hefty servings, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported back in time. The air is that thick with nostalgia.

As far as the pulque goes, they have 4 flavor options other than original. I recommend the mamey. ❤️????

Fantastic pulque. They only did take-out when we went, but definitely worth stopping by.

Classic Mexican pulqueria. Ogly as F place but great pulque at unbeatable price
