5 Don Dimon - 4 weeks ago
I've been a regular Barry's client for last 5+ years and go about 5x a week. This is my first time visiting an international studio and I have to say I'm extremely impressed with the Barry's Mexico City location.
The location is in Santa Fe very close to the Westin hotel - it's a little tricky to find as it's in a VERY NICE retail/restaurant area BEHIND the main office building. Much like the downtown Chicago location, it's on two levels with lockers/retail down below and the red room upstairs. It's definitely one of Barry's nicest studios.
My entire experience was excellent - the front desk staff could not have been more friendly or welcoming (and quickly realized Spanish is not my biggest strength lol). Locker rooms were clean and had all the same amenities as other locations: (showers, hair dryer, Oribe products, plastic bags, large towels, etc.) The Shakes are also the same (well at least very close) as in the states.
I was very nervous about taking classes in Spanish but my first was with (the amazing) John Michael who is from my home location in San Diego and he teaches mostly in English. My second class was with Pablo (also terrific) and he was kind enough to call out moves in English for me as well. The programming is top notch and I'm going to take some more classes. Coming from sea level, I had a tough time working out with the high altitude but both trainers pushed me through it. Further, the weights and treads use the English (as opposed to metric) system so everything was very familiar to me.
My only difficulty was with the International mobile app which definitely needs some love, but that really has nothing to do with this location.
In any case, I highly recommend Barry's Mexico. It's very well managed and one of their best locations.
