Very calm and beautiful. The two fountains give the place an extra special touch. Lots of things to do in the area and yummy places to eat.

Nice place to visit. Locals informed us to keep valuables out of site. Cell phone in front pocket, necklaces not accessable for a quick snatch and run. Don't be surprised by entertainers seeking tips. Know it most likely will happen. Give at your own descretion.

A great place to sit during the evening and watch people go by while the sun goes down. You will have to talk off beggars and peddlers but that is in many city centers.

Nice lively place to pass time but nothing great or extraordinary here. Lot of cafes and individual food vendors are around for street food. Big open space for kids to play. This Plaza is also known as  "Plaza de las Dos Copas" because of its two fountains shaped like it. The Plaza de la Liberacion  was built in 1952 by Ignacio Diaz Morales to remember the abolition of slavery. The monument of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla breaking the chains of slavery. The Plaza is located opposite the Teatro Degollado and behind the Cathedral, on Hidalgo Avenue. On the north side of the plaza, next to the Museo Regional de Guadalajara, is the legislative palace. It can be identified by the thick stone columns. Across the Calle Belén to the east is the Palacio de la Justicia. It was built in 1588 as Guadalajara’s first nunnery. Inside is the mural by Guillermo Chávez. On a sunny day in summers, it gets very hot here so avoid visiting this place as there is nowhere you can take a shade to sit and relax. This is a spot in the tour package of hop on hop off city tours as well and a bus stop is right on the side of the square.
