OK, primero lo primero. El local esta bonito, bien cuidado, limpio y con muebles cómodos. Una empleada me saludó en cuanto entré, me explicó los sabores y las coberturas (en realidad nada mas tenían dos: chocolate y maple solas o con cacahuate, almendra o coco), las donas se veían apetitosas bien acomodadas en una vitrina con charolas limpias y sin migajas o residuos. Hasta aquí fue lo mejor. El ambiente: no sé si porque era muy temprano (8:15am) pero los únicos dos clientes que había eran dos policías (ya sé, que cliché no? Policías y Donas xD ) sentados en mesas separadas, uno de ellos en el teléfono hablando a todo volumen. Y bueno pensé, aquí vengo por las donas, no a socializar, así es que pedí mi dona para llevar, aunque tristemente no mejoraría mi experiencia. Las Donas: pedí una dona de maple con almendras y, como lo mencioné antes, no sé si era muy temprano pero la dona que me dieron dejaba mucho que desear (ah! y me cobraron el recipiente de poliestireno para llevar - malísimo para el medio ambiente por cierto - sin mencionarme que tenía costo extra, esto no habla bien de un negocio. O regalan bolsas de papel o servilletas, que sé yo, o incluyen estos costos en su producto). El pan estaba seco, como cuando lo dejan afuera por mucho tiempo, evidentemente era una dona vieja, la textura del centro ya era acartonada aunque conservaba un sabor pasable y no estaba grasosa, estuve a punto de regresarme o de tirarla a la basura de plano, pero lo que la salvó fue la cubierta de maple, dulce pero no empalagosa, con el sabor sutil de la miel de maple y un terminado de mantequilla que hace que quieras seguir comiendo sin importar las consecuencias.
Al final, no creo que me desvíe de mi camino alguna vez para ir por donas a Vancouver Donut's (mal usado el apóstrofe por cierto, como en casi todos los negocios, debería de ser Vancouver's Donuts ;p ) pero si algún día paso por enfrente les daré otra oportunidad.
