Galería Studio Cerillo is a fabulous gem of an eclectic art space known as ‘the ever disappearing gallery,’ comprised of layer upon layer of exhibitions, which, over the years, have entombed some exceptional art featuring both international and local artists, boldly stretching both artistic and conceptual boundaries. The intimate space left at the centre of this multi - layered installation is filled with some fabulous photographs from the talented and genre-busting Cisco, of the people and places of Chiapas, a beautiful collection of jewellery by Dani, iron work, plus paintings of a satirical and abstract persuasion. By no means this is all you’ll find, as the Galería is always evolving and changing and full of surprises. The whole block around the Galería is decorated with Chiapas-infused street art, a la Zapatista, and sits at the top of barrio el Cerrillo as comfortably as it would in the middle of Brooklyn or outer space. Banksy has been reported to have set foot in this neighbourhood. I can see why. Wild and wacky adventures await, no trip to San Cristóbal is complete without a visit to Studio Cerillo. Top tip: shows and exhibitions not to be missed!

GSC has been a staple, cultural landmark in San Cristóbal since the early 2000's. I showed there several times in the early years. The gallery has a deliberate interest in artist expression and agenda, and shies away from simply exhibiting an artist's collection. It's a unique setting for amazing conversation with travelers, transplants and locals.

This gallery has always been a part of my San Cristobal experience..
Since it opened the shows I have seen have been magical,and full of interesting surprises.Now I return and there is another surprise ...a wonderful boutique selling absolutely beautiful jewellery.Like an Alladins cave,with Danny there who is the amazing artist who created all of the necklaces and pendants and bracelets and earrings.She is an extremely professional creator.You must go if you need a special gift for a friend or lover...and she will welcome you with a great smile.Well done Danny.
