Casa Real Poblana is located in the historic colonial city of Puebla, about an hour drive from Mexico city. During the French-Mexican War (1861-1867), an outnumbered Mexican army defeated a powerful invading French force at Puebla. Our tour guide brought us to this historic (!!) restaurant with good colonial interiors. My expectation was high as our guide described it to be the original home of 'Mole Poblano', local dishes with distinct flavours. We had our buffet lunch there. However, though the spread was little different, but the taste was average.... nothing more than ordinary. Seemed like it was neither authentic nor good enough to transmit the essence of Puebla. The waiters were very courteous, and attentive though...

Brought there by our tour guide. Few choices available for a buffet. The food is average too.

Expensive for bland lukewarm buffet food for $240 pesos plus drinks separate! If your tour drops you off here and "recommends" it, try to go somewhere else. Service is nice, so two stars for that.

They offer buffet everyday all day. The restaurant itself is beautiful for it's colonial architecture and the service is great as usual here in Puebla.
From the buffet the chilaquiles, beans and papas con rajas were tasty as well as the tlacoyos (a Poblano snack). The coffee needs attention as is a bit water down.
Overall a quite place to eat breakfast in a colonial tranquil ambiance.

Had buffet lunch at this place. Food and service was very good. Nice ambiance.

For being a buffet place they don't hav much to choose from,I think I would have enjoyed more eating street tacos

The food is very tasty and inexpensive. One caveat: if you are not used to eating chile poblano, you should take into consideration that you might not be able to stomach it!
