Backpackers beware! If you’re looking for atmosphere, comfort, reliable internet and/or kind staff, move on. This hostel wins the cake of worst in Latin America. Unbelievably rude staff who had earplugs in, listening to music while checking us in. No, “hey welcome”, no “ah! Where are you guys from?”, just “passports required for check-in”. The beds are uneven, and horribly uncomfortable. The creme de lá creme is that you’re required to sign a contract before checking in, which included fantastic lines such as: horribly steep charges for small items including leaving a window open or hanging clothing, excess of 600 MXN pesos for people who express “behaviour deemed unfitting of the hostel” (whatever that means), 200 MXN peso deposit for towel and key (considering other hostels charge 30-50 pesos, this is a bit ridiculous) PLUS a 72 hour cancellation policy which allows the hostel to charge the full amount of a room if canceled within the window! Hostel itself looks great and washrooms were clean, but prepare for poor atmosphere and incredibly horrible wifi which isn’t available in the dorms. What’s worse is that the management seems to make the same comments on all negative reviews both here and in hostelworld saying that they’ll “do their best to be better” or that they “suggest private rooms instead”. Having stayed in hundreds of hostels through the years I’ve never met more rude staff, or poor/pretentious atmosphere. Pass on this place
