I'm sorry to say, this is probably the worst sleep I've ever had in my entire life. I would have rather slept on a futon. I'm not exaggerating, I've never left a hotel mid trip or bad review before either, as I've been a small business owner and know reviews really affect one's business. I'm hoping the owners will consider my words to help make their place better, even if they have to increase the price some. We booked the hotel for 5 nights, but are leaving after 2. (it would have been after the first night to be honest, but our schedule didnt allow this).
First off, the pro's:
- Affordablity
- Close proximity to everything
- Front desk was friendly and professional
- Cleaning lady came in while we were out to tidy up, and did a great job
- Many available shelves and surfaces to settle into room and more easily access your belongings
- Hallways to rooms have a nice, clean timeless decor
- 3 layers of blankets on bed, which I appreciate
Now the con's:
- Beds are hard as rocks, as well as pillows
- As I'm writing this, I can hear the person in the next room using the bathroom. You see, there's a small window to the left and right of the bathroom and you can see/hear both adjoining bathrooms. I believe it's for airflow/ventilation, but this also allows you to hear their toilet flush and wash their hands, etc. (I've attached photos)
- Our ceiling fan does not have any pull chains or way to adjust the speed, and can only run on high. For this reason we kept the bathroom windows partially open to get some air flow to the room.
- In the bathroom too, there are two water drainage holes (one in the shower) with rupper caps/lids to help eliminate the sewege smell. The metal lids, however, are not affixed, and within the first 5 min of being in the bathroom I kicked it off accidentally. Could be safety hazard. (photo attached)
- There are windows that are right on the main walkway I could open for air, but also, I would not have any sense of security. They are also very thin and can easily hear conversion is and door closings outside.
- The curtains are curling inwards on their edges and do not fully over the windows, therefore letting in walkway light at night. I am attaching a photo from 3am for you to reference. The room literally never gets dark as there is a bright light shining directly in front of the window on the outside. I used a Bobby pin to help cinch the curtains together in the middle to make the room a little darker. I think this would be an easy fix if the just ironed the curtains.
- There is a large - long piece of plastic that's installed outside the top edge of the building/courtyard (not sure why), and when the wind comes, it makes a lot of noise which you can clearly hear in your room when you're not sleeping in the middle of the night. (photo attached)
- We found one single outlet plug hidden behind the nightstand, otherwise there are 2 available plugs behind the TV. (lack of convenient plugs available to charge devices, use laptops, etc)
As noted, I'm just hoping the management will take these things into consideration and see if they can find any solutions so future guests can have a better experience.
