OMG I love this place and the people that work there. It’s very nice and traditional Oaxacan hotel style. I came with my mother and the staff were just the best people. The rooms are very clean and if you are lucky enough to have a balcony, the view of the city is lovely. It’s very central and well located. It’s also very secure with a guard at night and they will really go out of their way to make sure your experience and visit of Oaxaca is pleasant. I definitely recommend staying and will return when I go back to Oaxaca.

We were asked to let them know during checkin if we wanted breakfast the next morning and we told them we did. Verified that breakfast is between 8am-10am. At 9:40am, we went upstairs to the terrace to find that the breakfast had finished. If the hotel wants each guest to confirm breakfast for the next morning, they should be checking which guests have confirmed so the food isn’t eaten by others. Guests who follow the rules shouldn’t be denied.

We upgraded to a room with a queen sized bed, but there was no balcony.

Staff was nice. I would only stay here if they lower their prices. Overpriced for what you get

Our stay at Hotel Alma was very nice. The location was great, even though facing a popular street. Everything was reachable by walking. The receptionists were very very friendly, attentive and helpful. Especially señor Gabriel was a great host, giving us great, helpful recommendations for a visits in and around Oaxaca. He always asked how our day went and what we could do else in Oaxaca. Such a warm-hearted and nice person!
We highly recommend this place to stay! But be prepared with a bit of Spanish.

Outside the Hotel Real Alma of downtown Oaxaca a dramatic chapter from the Anals of the Sociology of Work unfolds each day. The lives of an army of people as well as the soul of these urban blocks is determined by this activity. In case you don't notice this on your stay here in Oaxaca, I've taken some illustrative photos of the mercado-life right outside your door. What's most remarkable about this world is that it is completely mobile.

These shops must be torn down at night and then restored the next morning. Get up early some morning and watch young guys pushing these collapsed shops about Oaxaca on large wagons. I've uploaded here a photo of such a collapsed shop on the street near the doors of the Hotel Real Alma.

From the moment we walked in, we knew this hotel was the right choice. It felt clean inside out. The WiFi worked very well. The safe was easy to use. However, the hot water was a concern. We had to let it run for minutes before we were able to get the hot water. Ironically they had a post in the restroom stating the saving of water.

High standard rooms and lobby. Qiet place, oase in the middle of the town. Very Friendly personal-stuff
