We visited this hotel once at arrival and one night at departure and it was just as bad both times. The first night we arrived a day early before our group and when they arrived the next day in the early AM hours we were going to welcome them into our room so that we can all gather ourselves to leave to our next destination (we were checking out that very morning). The reception man quickly bolted to me and asked for my guests name and denied entry into our room. It was bizarre and rude. I've never felt more uncomfortable in a hotel, it felt like they were watching us the whole time. Instead we all headed to the restaurant which is convenient and wonderful, and remained there until it was time to head out. We felt uncomfortable going back to our room because we would not let our guest sit outside while they wait for us.
The restaurant staff however are truly hospitable and provide delicious authentic Mexican meals. They have fresh squeezed orange juice, delicious fruit and variety of meals. The restaurant is very nice and comfortable and open early. There is another seafood restaurant in the building which we did not get to try but the cafe/restaurant was good enough. Room service was also delicious, food was packaged well and delivered with care.
The low rating is simply because we felt extremely uncomfortable and felt creepy vibes on the hotel side of things. Even walking down the halls to our room was uncomfortable and creepy. You can hear noise, tvs the walls are very thin yet no one in sight and feels like somebody is watching you. The rooms are clean but the beds are not comfortable, the restroom smelled like sewage and the floors in the shower are marble therefore very slippery. The door has an inch gap from the floor so you can hear and possibly peep into a room from underneath.
The only good thing about this place is the location and all other staff excluding reception. It is convenient to have a restaurant in your hotel because it is difficult to move around in the city, finding a safe taxi and a place to eat in that area isn't easy. The bellhop is very helpful and located a charger for my phone and safe taxi to take us into the city. The restaurant and bellhop treated us with excellent service and is probably the only reason I'd ever go back because of the convenience and location.
Mind you, we went to other part of the state and stayed in least modern rooms but the ambiance was amazing because staff makes it feel comforting. The check-in reception needs to get a grip and be more hospitable.
If you plan on staying here, book on a booking site because I was charged 3x the cost in person the first night. They increased the price for 2 extra people which are my young children. The second time around I payed for three rooms what I paid for one room on the first night because the booking site charges fair price.
