This is a great bed and breakfast that exceeded our expectations. The staff are amazing, breakfast is simple and perfect and the building feels very safe. The area is also beautiful and very central. We will stay here again when we come back to Mexico City!

Cozy, good breakfast, super comfortable bed and best location. The Parque España is around the corner and there is everything around; markets, bars, cafes, local shops… The street is beautiful, full of trees.

These ‘hosts’ should not be in the hospitality business. Our experience was similar to those described in other reviews: absent management; uncomfortable room - hot (no AC though it’s advertised on web site - but owner response to another complaint says they don’t have it in order to be eco-friendly, so false advertising; wrong room with one bed instead of requested 2 - allowed to change on last night of 4-night stay, but room not ready until 6 pm; use of MC resident and native Spanish speaker made no difference - manager refused to speak directly to him on phone.
Keys: only one issued per room, a clear safety hazard when it took a key to exit the property and created all sorts of logistical problems for 2 people.
Breakfast: great coffee, recycled fruit and bread, cooked-to-order eggs OK.
Location: great neighborhood.
Bill: revealed that a surcharge of 29 percent for paying with card so paid in cash. Had to beg for a receipt, eventually written on scrap of paper. Promised email receipt never sent.
Overall: poor sleep resulted from wrong room and very uncomfortable bed, billed by management as ‘winning the lottery. A free upgrade.’
Wish: wish that we had read reviews in advance and not gone by 4-star TA rating. It could be a lovely place but management and staff (with one exception) obviously have no concern for guests.

The room was decent and clean. IThe Bu0026B is also located in close proximity to a tree-lined walking path and restaurants. However, after arranging for a shuttle to pick me up from the airport, no one showed up. I called multiple times, sent an e-mail, and spoke to two different staff members about it when I arrived by taxi (after standing in a long and slow-moving taxi line). To this day, no one has followed up with me about why the airport shuttle did not arrive.

Stella is in a great neighborhood and has a wonderful staff. The breakfast is very good. It's infested with bedbugs though. My friend and i told the person at the desk there was a little blood on the sheets- we thought it was from mosquitos- on the first two mornings. Every day we got more bites. At first, I thought I was allergic to the detergent because the smell was so strong. Then I thought it was mosquitos. My face was covered in red welts the day we left so I went to the Doctor this morning. He immediately said "you have bed bug bites". All of the images online of bed bug bites and the descriptions match my bites. I'm sorry to leave this review but the hotel did not respond to my email and they really need to take of this. I've already missed work, spent money replacing things and had to visit the Dr. Hopefully the bed bugs did not come back with us.

Great location next to a park and taxi post. Bed was very comfortable and warm, breakfast was nothing to write home about.
The sound travels too well within the apartment building, so any noise other guests make while in the common areas is disruptive.
Windows are not well soundproofed either, so even though there's little traffic noise, any conversation anyone has on the streets can be heard clear as day. This includes the occasional seller, camote bike and knife sharpener.
There was a faint sewer smell coming from the bathroom constantly. This is more of a Mexican problem though.

I booked the place reading about it on NYT article (It seems to have bought them a lot of business, another gentleman who writes for a travel website whom I met there, also picked the place based on reading about it on NYT). I was torn between the two mentioned in the article and decided on Stella- bad mistake.

The rooms are dingy and small. I was staying in a double bed and even this was too small. It was noisy and hot with not not even a ceiling fan. To make it worse, there were mosquitoes plenty and could not sleep the first night. They arranged for a floor fan the next day, which was nice, at least I could not hear the mosquitoes. Other people I met also had the same complaints. To be fair, the bed was comfortable and clean.

The breakfast was major disappointment. It mentions one Mexican dish every day, but all they made was omlet along with one fruit and toast. One day there was no milk and the next day, there was no butter for the toast. They did not even make an attempt to get it. You can get better breakfast at Days inn.

The service staff were friendly but there is only person in the morning and seemed to have hard time between cleaning rooms and taking care of the breakfast and was hard to find. She was friendly but does not speak English. Next person comes later but mostly stays at the desk and answers to questions asked and not much more.Internet is superslow and goes missing so often.

The neighbourhood is super nice but it is hard to justify paying nearly $100 for the kind of room and service . Also, they say they will charge 19% extra for taxes if you pay with credit card (does that mean they don't pay taxes if you pay with cash?)

Hate to put in a bad review, but as a traveler, you do not want to end up disappointed and I wish I had known all this before I booked the place.
