We heard a lot about the tacos here from both vegans and non-vegans alike. One of our tour guides in Mexico even mentioned that despite being a non-vegan, he rated the tacos here among the very best in the city.
And to our delight, everything we heard about the place was true. We came here for three meals in the four days we spend in Mexico City. We were also pretty lucky that it was only a mile from where we stayed. The Al pastor is the shining jewel in their menu and rightly so. It’s just a perfect blend of heat, fat, and acidity. Over the course of the 3 meals we tried all of their tacos, some of my other favorites were alambre and the chorizo-verde. The cactus topping and the habanero salsas ( pineapple habanero in particular) gave an added depth of flavor.
We paid an average of 4-5 usd per meal consisting roughly of about 5-6 tacos. The tortas are good too but I would always go for the tacos. Too many things such as cheese, tomatoes and avocado make the flavors complicated and messed up.
Don’t miss this place when you are in Mexico and especially if you happen to be a vegan/vegetarian.
They have a brick and mortar store too 2 block away which is a sit-down type place. But we found it difficult to get seats , the wait times were usually 30-45 mins there. And so, we ended up at the stall 2 out of the 3 times. The sit-down place has a more expansive menu in addition to the tacos and tortas.
