Opened from 1832 to 1872, it is one of the oldest cemeteries in Mexico City. Prominent Mexicans who fought for the country including Mexico's 26th president, Benito Juárez, are buried here. If you are interested in Mexican history, especially with its movement for independence, this should be in your checklist, you will not be disappointed. I am surprised at some of the reviews here stating it was closed. It was completely open for me, and I was able to walk in and look around with the security guard present. I even got close to Benito Juárez's grave and took a few photos. It was beautiful!
