1) On Priceline, MX Reforma advertised a "suite with terrace," which is what I chose. When we arrived, it did not come with a terrace. It was a very small room with a queen-sized bed. This "bait and switch" tactic was very disappointing.
2) We tried to make the new room work, but it's impossible to sleep there due to all the overwhelming noises. The restaurant downstairs moves all of the tables and chairs after 9 pm and then again early in the morning. It's a horrible sound. On top of that, there's a beep that sounds like a smoke detector with a dying battery. It beeps about every 60 seconds 24/7. We had to sleep with ear plugs, but it still drove us crazy. Finally, on Thurs, Fri, and Sat nights, there is a very loud club that literally shares a wall with MX Reforma. They play loud, thumping music from 9 pm until 3 am.
3) Other miscellaneous inconveniences include the very thin, crunchy plastic pillows...the 2-person elevator at the entrance (alarming for people with claustrophobia and it broke)...the desk clerks who shrug and assure you there's nothing they can do...
We ended up leaving after 3 sleepless nights. We had booked through Priceline for 8 nights, and it was nonrefundable. It has been worth it to pay for two hotels for the rest of our stay in Mexico City, so we don't have to deal with MX Reforma. (My husband and I are both teachers, so we don't have extra money to throw away like this.)
MX Reforma staff assured us that they know about the problems, but they did nothing to try compensate us or try to address the issues.
Finally, MX Reforma sent us an email today to review our stay. You guessed it! The link to the review is broken.
If you need a lovely, considerate, quiet hotel, I highly recommend Hotel Casa Gonzalez. We wish we had found it first. It's absolutely marvelous!
