What an incredible experience from beginning to end. If you're not familiar with Yucatan cuisine, it is a state in Southeast Mexico which borders the Gulf of Mexico on one side and the Caribbean Sea on the other. And in this food lover's opinion, they have some of the most distinctive and delicious food in the region.
The appetizer panuchos with Marlin u0026 cochinita pibil and the quesadillas with Yucatan native veggies were amazing. The cochinita pibil entree was one of the best I've had in many years; so tender it came apart easily yet had enough firmness to enjoy thoroughly with a delectable sauce. The 4 salsas offered were unique and all delicious in their own way. The hand made blue corn tortillas were awesome.
The service from Chef Eduardo and Mrs. Gina were second to none. This was our first visit and we were made to feel truly welcome with them showing an authentic interest in having us enjoy their food and company.
As we spoke with Mrs. Gina, we learned they had a second restaurant called Mezcaleria Los Amantes which is based on Oaxacan cuisine (from the Pacific coast). It turned out this restaurant was half a block away for our hotel (JW Marriott Polanco) and we went there for dinner which we enjoyed even more than lunch! That review is on that restaurant's page.
We will definitely return.
