This corner of fusion cuisine between Spain and Mexico is a jem hidden beneath the busy life of the center of Mexico City.
The place is owned by a guy from Madrid and the other one is from Mexico and bam!
Coolest fusion ever!
Bechamel is the perfect place where you would like to sit to take a breath from the Mexican heath, by drinking a sangria and eating pinchos and croquettes.
Jamón serrano here is the king and you can try it in different presentation.
I tried the “degustación” of croquettes and it was delicious, they also offer some sweet ones like queso de cabra, Nutella and plátano (banana).
The place is just above one of the main streets of the historical center a couple of blocks away from Zocalo (main square where is the Cathedral).
The staff is friendly and welcoming, they take their time to explain you about the place and about what you wanna order.
While I was there, there were couples, friends and business people, it’s really fine for all kind of situations.
They have a large list of beverages and also options for vegans and kids which makes this place suitable to enjoy family and friends.
I’ll come back for sure, next time enjoying some company as I’m sure 100% people will love it as much as I did.

I visited Bechamel for dinner with several friends. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. We don't speak Spanish very well but they tried their best to explain the menu to us. They described the food as Spanish-Mexican fusion. I had sangria, eggplant and croquettes and they were all delicious. The restaurant is upstairs with a nice view of the surrounding historic buildings. The space as decorated nicely. The prices were very reasonable. I highly recommend trying this restaurant.

I really enjoyed the food and ambiance of the place. Kind of expensive but worth the cost. Had the opportunity to be there with a large group of people and the waiter was very nice and helpful. Food took a while to get to us and our dish was never completed (included nopales and never got them)
Great view from the terrace.
Best. Food and ambiance
Not so great. No parking and kind of difficult to get if not knowing about it.

I dunno about the food but although the drinks are a little pricey, the Flamenco show was totally worth it!

Amaaaaaaazing food! Unbelievable location and gastronomic offer! A true Spanish - Mexican food fusion.

Located on a second floor of a building in the corner of Isabel la católica and 16 de Septiembre, you can find this little hidden gem in downtown Mexico City. The fixed menu they offer is absolutely affordable ($69 MXN - 3 dollars per person).

The fixed menu comes with a variety of croquettes (both regular and sweet), my favorites are the goat cheese, chicken, and chorizo croquettes. All the croquettes are marinated with special sauces (the best part... not all of them are spicy ).

Also, I would like to mention that Everything is organic!!

If you're strolling Mexico City, this is a must place to visit!
