My husband Chris and I had the absolute best time staying at La Perla. The inn itself was absolutely beautiful and everyone at La Perla was so nice and helpful. We had an amazing room with a lovely balcony. La Perla is centrally located to great restaurants, bars, shopping, and the train. We really enjoyed our morning breakfasts at La Perla as well as margarita hour on the beautiful rooftop. Their restaurant and bar recommendations were always spot on. We had to extend our trip by 4 days due to weather at home, and they couldn't have been nicer or more accomodating. We can't wait to go back.

I was flooded with happiness the moment I walked through the door of La Perla because it was clear I was in a special place! The parlor was stunning felt like a step back into history. The proprietors, Lars and Guillermo, graciously welcomed us, and then we sat down for a lovely get-to-know-you visit. The hotel is filled with beautiful furniture and gorgeous art, and every piece has a story. The rooms are equally beautiful and also quite comfortable. The days begin with a casually elegant breakfast in the dining room (which is filled with crystal and china hand-painted by Lars's mother) and the late afternoon ends with margaritas on the rooftop terrace. And the conversation! So much delightful conversation! I came to Guadalajara as tourist. When I return, it will be to see my new friends!

La Perla is a beautiful property in a great location. The rooms are sunny, comfortable and tastefully furnished with all the conveniences. As a woman traveling by myself, I felt safe and welcomed. Lars and Memo epitomize "hospitality" and went the extra mile ensuring that everything was perfect. They provided bottled water, a yummy breakfast, a walking tour of the Centro area, and happy hour every evening on the roof. They even made a business card for me with the hotel information to make sure I could find my way back! Like so many others who have stayed here, I can't wait to return!

The property is beautify decorated and well appointed. The common areas were all open and inviting. My room had a covered balcony facing the street. What a treat to spend time in the mornings and evenings on the balcony! The neighborhood is safe and centrally located; close to everything. The owners and staff all went out of their to learn my interests and to accommodate me as much as they could. Breakfast with the owners and drinks in the evening were delightful! A great way to meet the other guests and learn about the area.
This truly was a wonderful stay! Highly recommended.

Why La Perla is above and beyond:

There is fresh coffee outside your door every morning. I asked if there was cream, and Lars went out in the early morning and got a carton. It was ready for us at 7AM. THANK YOU, Lars!

There really is a free walking tour, which took about two hours! Not just the neighborhood, but a lot of the major landmarks in El Centro.

We had a change of plans and we needed to either extend our stay or find somewhere else. Lars and Guillermo were incredibly helpful and things worked out wonderfully.

The normal logistical questions one tends to have when traveling were answered with maps as well as suggestions about how to expand our plans.
The extra information led to some of our best days in GDL.

The place is spotless and the water, lights etc. function perfectly. There is art everywhere.

La Perla does not over-promise. The room rate really does include a delicious breakfast as well as evening margaritas on the roof. The value for money is really really good!

No communication problems. One host is from the US and the other is from Mexico. Communicate in English or Spanish, as you prefer.

The hosts are wonderful conversationalists, who can tell stories as well as listen. They made us feel special and unique.

I could go on and on but you get the idea. We would return in a heartbeat!

This was our first trip to Guadalajara and our first stay at La Perla. We lucked out finding it! Great, interesting and safe neighborhood. Covid precautions were terrific plus in house Covid tests for those returning to USA. Our hosts were top notch and offered everything we needed including a walking tour, dining options, help with Uber, directions and plenty of suggestions of what to see and do on our short trip. Fantastic well appointed rooms. Wonderful breakfasts and drinks on the roof. We look forward to returning soon!
