Ensenada Backpacker

Simply awful.

We arrived at 12:30AM. Website and sign at reception says "open 24 hours." When we buzzed the desk answered after 20 minutes of waiting. His response was "yeah but who does that" when asked about 24 hours. Had this disposition of "why are you bothering me, what do you want."

Filthy blankets; no water pressure, heat ran out after one of us took a shower. No breakfast or drinking water. In response we left. Simply look and book a 3 star hotel, cheaper and closer to the main town.

As we experienced for a little less you can share a room with two and get something a block from the peer with much better amenities. Many other hotels in town, this one is a rip-off.

I’ve come here three times for work and once for travel. I really enjoy this hostel because it is comfortable like a home and always a nice social experience. The beds and sheets make for a really good sleep. The hostel is within walking distance from all of the good bars and downtown fun.

Simple, unpretentious hostel with a nice balcony area and friendly staff. Perfect for a short stay.

I stayed at the Ensenada Backpacker with three of my best friends, and it was a great experience! For two of us, it was our first time staying in a hostel, and we both agreed it felt so comfortable and home-like! There are beautiful murals all over the hostel. The beds were comfy, clean, and warm. The wifi worked great! Walking distance from downtown. There was a girls only bedroom and bathroom/shower, which we didn't use since we were with two guys but it was a great resource. Parking outside the hostel was safe. Overall a fantastic experience, so grateful to have found this place! We will be back.

Very nice hostel with just the right people and crowd!
Got a place to safely tuck away a motorcycle. Close to everything in the city and a convenience store just across the street.
Fair price and comfy beds, although not the latest model.
I ended up extending my stay.

Internet is fast and I could stream movies and have video conferencing without issues.

One of the best hostels. I highly recommend it. Super clean and friendly. Close to everything, safe area, and staff speaks perfect English. Staff takes amazing care of its guests. The staff went drinking with us and one guest got very drunk. The hostel staff paid for a cab and went with him to get the guest back to the hostel safely. Very fast WiFi and great kitchen. The beds are really comfy and the bedding was great quality.

Great hostel - well equipped kitchen, great outdoor space and comfortable dorms. As a group of three in low season we were out in a 6 bed dorm and the staff were thoughtful and booked other people in in a way that gave everyone enough space - for our 3 nights we didn’t share the dorm with anyone in the end! The hosts were really kind and friendly and helpful with everything, and we spent a while talking with Xavier who was super friendly and chatty and made our stay great. There are lockers in the dorms and spare padlocks if you need them. I personally spent a day hungover here and it wasn’t a living hell. Would recommend if you’re visiting Ensenada. We even barbecued one night!
