We paid for breakfast but the staff are not flexible and don't care about the guests. We had an excursion at 7:45 and they would not adapt the breakfast time. The breakfast was at 8:30 and they wouldn't bring it forward slightly. One of the ladies was nice, however I guess the chef didn't want to wake up earlier. Many tourists visiting Cancun will do an excursion that involves leaving early, the hotel should take this into account and offer breakfast from an earlier time. Poor customer service.
