Museo del Alfeñique

We visited this museum with a local family while on holiday in Toluca.
We had a wonderful time learning about the history of Alfenique and 2 guides gave us a tour in Spanish and English, which the whole group appreciated very much.
Each piece on display showed such skill, and we saw many beautiful examples of Alfenique.
The building itself is stunning and I would highly recommend a visit to this free little treasure in the middle of Toluca.

It's a nice small museum where you can learn about Mexico's day of the dead traditions such as alfeñique skulls, home made candies, sugar and chocolate skulls, among others. Besides that, you can learn how spanish and mexicans traditions mixed together into a new way of thinking. If you are in Toluca, do not hesitate to visit this place.

"Alfeñique" is a traditional kind of candy used mainly for the "Day of the dead" in Mexico. This gallery shows an impressive variety of these sweet artcrafts and much more.
